FAQs

i.e. Why might you want to work with me!

Where are you based?

While I call the Northern Berkshires home, specifically Williamstown, Massachusetts, I have photographed weddings and family portraits all around the world, including Austria, Bermuda, Canada, Iceland, Jamaica, Mexico & Sweden. I love traveling for work, and have photographed clients throughout the United States in CA, CT, DC, FL, ME, MD, MI, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, RI, VA & VT. Point is, I will gladly travel to tell your story! I’m regularly on Cape Cod and in the Poconos during the summer months visiting family, so will wave travel fees in those locations.

What is your experience and background?

I took an early interest in photography as a child, learning to shoot on my father’s Nikon F. I used childhood friends as my models and high school dark rooms to develop my film.

I was an Art Studio major at Williams College where my work focused on public art practice. I didn’t pick up my camera much until after graduation when I worked at Goucher College and took a number of film photography courses because I was craving a creative outlet and time in the dark room. A few years later, I moved across the country and attended the University of Southern California for my Master’s in Curatorial Practices in the Public Sphere. Working with people and creating, whether photographs, stories on a page, or physical objects knit with my own hands, stayed central to how I moved through the world.

In 2009, I became a mother, and was regularly writing and photographing my way through those early days of parenthood. I shared my writing and photography publicly, and one of my readers reached out and asked if I would consider photographing her wedding because she felt like she knew me through my images and writing. I said yes, and the rest, as they say, is history!

After photographing that wedding, I received more requests to capture people’s loved ones. Nearly 15 years later, and I am still humbled and honored to be invited in to document people’s most precious and vulnerable life moments.

I am a people person to my core. I am highly attuned to the energy of and between humans, and find that that sensitivity is critical to creating authentic, meaningful photographs. I also love to laugh and encourage others! Having one’s photo taken is a vulnerable experience, so I aim to make it as comfortable and JOYFUL as possible. I live in a household filled with children and pets, which is to say I am unfazed by kid antics and chaos. In fact, I’d say I really shine in a space filled with humans and emotion and a dog or two.

What should I expect from a session with you?

I aim to have all sessions feel relaxed and playful. When people are comfortable, they are most themselves. I will take time to build a rapport with you and your loved ones and will respond appropriately to the energy and needs of the group. I will offer gentle guidance and suggestions, but never force a pose or idea. We will spend time walking around the shoot location, reacting to the light and the space, and interacting in a variety of ways with all the subjects. I work in collaboration with all my clients because we are engaging in a creative partnership. We will take breaks as needed, and allow plenty of time so no one feels rushed or stressed during the process.

I like to speak with all clients prior to a shoot to plan our time together, including questions about dress, any family dynamics I should be aware of, and generally any hopes or requests for the session.

What services do you offer?

I specialize in natural light photography, specifically of people (and their fur babies). Weddings, engagements, maternity, family, and portraits are at the core of my portfolio. I do photograph special events beyond weddings, including family reunions, bridal/baby showers, graduations, and birthday parties. I also take a select number of real estate photography requests each year.

What’s the nitty gritty of your photo delivery?

I deliver all client photographs in high-resolution JPG format with no watermarks within 4 weeks of the session in an online gallery that can be shared with friends and family. This delivery includes a link to download all files. I send wedding clients a sneak peek of a dozen photographs within 48 hours of their wedding day. I generally provide 75+ photographs per hour of time shooting.
